Head of Marketing
Moondream makes vision AI that runs fast enough to process every frame of video in realtime. Factories use it to catch defects. Robots use it to navigate warehouses. Developers use it for things we didn't predict when we built it. Thousands of them found us with zero marketing spend. Word of mouth and a good product got us here. Now we need someone who can make that look intentional.
You'll be the first marketing hire. No team, no agency, no brand guidelines doc. You own positioning, demand gen, launches, the website, and the story we tell the market. Our dev rel team handles the community and developer content side. Your job is everything else: how the company is positioned, how launches land, how enterprise buyers find us, and how we go from “the developers love it” to “the CFO approved it.”
You should probably apply if:
- You've done marketing at a developer tools or infrastructure company and know that reaching the person who writes the code and the person who signs the contract are two completely different problems
- You've written positioning that made a technical product click for someone in thirty seconds
- You can run a product launch end-to-end: the landing page, the Hacker News strategy, the email sequence, the press angle, the follow-up. You've done this and it worked.
- You're as comfortable writing copy as you are staring at a funnel in a spreadsheet figuring out where the drop-off is
- You've built a marketing function at an early-stage company before and you have opinions about what to hire for first
You should definitely not apply if:
- Your background is consumer marketing. Our buyers read API docs for fun. The playbook is different.
- You need a team before you can ship anything. The first six months are you, a laptop, and a lot of ground to cover.
- Remote work is non-negotiable (we're in-person in San Francisco because marketing at this stage means being in the room when product decisions happen)
What you'll actually do
- Define how Moondream is positioned in the market. Not taglines on a wall. The actual story that makes an engineering leader say “we should try this” and a VP say “we should buy this.”
- Own the website, landing pages, and every piece of sales-facing collateral. Make them good enough that sales stops asking for a custom deck.
- Run launch campaigns for new models and features. Figure out which channels actually move the needle and ignore the rest.
- Build the top of the funnel for enterprise sales. Get Moondream in front of the right companies before the BDRs have to cold-call them.
- Figure out what marketing at Moondream should look like in a year and start hiring to make it happen
